This made me break. His face, his fingers that just want to drop that phone. The worst part is that he really thought that he had a chance. He had hope. It wasn’t the same in 2x01, this time he really that she may choose him after everything they been through. That’s the worst part of all of this.
But he knows now that it will always be Stefan, because he’s Elena’s true love. After everything Damon and Elena had this season, Elena still choose Stefan. Because she will always choose Stefan no matter what. And Damon needs to know he’s not meant for her. He needs to move on and let that obssesion behind him and be happy. Find happiness over someone who choose you and you choose her. Someone who wouldn’t break the love, the real love of this show. Stefan and Damon. And the real meaning behind this triangle is Stelena find their way back to each other every time because people who are meant to be together always find their way back to each other and Stelena did it and will do it forever, the real meaning is for Damon to realize that it’s not because he’s not GOOD ENOUGH, it’s because he’s obssesed over wanting to be first than Stefan. Damon, you’re just choosing the wrong person, you’re just looking at the wrong people to choose you over Stefan. There are plenty girls and people out there choosing you over him. You just don’t want to see because you want that people choosing him first, change their mind and choose you over him at the end. It won’t happen, those people will choose him first always. So just realize, realize you will never have happiness if you bury yourself in your mind desires and not your heart’s needs. There’s one girl who knows you and Stefan and even if your brother has been way more nice to her than you, she stills choose you over him. You need to see that before you loose her. You wanna know her name? Her name is: Bonnie Bennett.

She picked Stefan because she wanted to feel “safe” again, seeing as Damon represents the passionate and “scary” relationship she has always wanted but isn’t ready for yet. Bonnie has nothing to do with this. Damon has NO obsession with wanting to be “better” than Stefan or to be “chosen” over Stefan. No, Damon just wants to be loved by the woman he loves. Yet at the same time, EVEN if she doesn’t love him back, he will STILL do anything for her, as he will always be like toward Elena. And haha, OH YEAH, Stefan/Elena always find their way back to each other because they NEVER address clear issues in their relationship. And THAT will be the reason that they crash and burn. Did they even TALK about the whole “ripper-Stefan out of town for half the season nbd” thing or the whole “almost driving girl I love off the same bridge her parents died on” thing and COMPLETELY resolve those issues? NOPE. Which is why even if they “found” their way back to each other, it will NEVER be the same. Why? Because 1) she loves Damon too [yes she does, she may not have said it but she’s shown it] and 2) because she and Stefan will never fully work out their issues.
